The number of friends and supporters is far too large to list here, but please know that I appreciate you all.  I want to thank each of you for every effort made to support my campaign. I thank you for volunteering to collect signatures, conversing with your friends and family about my candidacy, donating to my campaign, attending my fundraisers, sharing your encouraging words, and voting for me!  Without your support, I would not be headed to the general election in a strong second place with over 178,950 votes!

What is it that “We, The People” all want? Clean water, a healthy planet and a clean energy future for America.

Climate and energy legislation are vitally important to the success of our economy and the health our environment. America’s energy policy should be driven by clean energy incentives and firm limits on carbon pollution, which will help drive America’s economic recovery. We must invest in energy efficient technologies which would create hundreds of thousands of new construction, energy service, and building maintenance and operations jobs by 2020, and ultimately reduce consumers’ energy bills.

I’m currently a Formulating Chemist, and I’ve held the position as a Water Chemist for the City of Chicago Water Department.  I will use my scientific background to develop and guide policy decisions of the Board relating to waste water treatment, storm water management, and environmental concerns.

I have years of grass roots community activism and political involvement.  I formerly served as the Chairman of the Young Democrats of Cook County, Chairman of the 6^th Ward Young Democrats, and Treasurer of the Young Democrats of Cook County.  I am also a graduate of the Illinois Women’s Institute of Leadership (IWIL), and a member of the Sierra Club. In addition to supporting various local political campaigns and causes, I worked diligently in the Chicago area campaign to elect Barack Obama for President of the United States of America.  My academic background, professional experience, and political and community involvement have prepared me to provide effective and conscientious representation on the board.
